I Believe In Love

September 28, 2011

I believe in
Love.
Do you
Believe
In harmony?
I’m giving you
My melody.
The quiet song
Inside of me
Is tearing
Out my
Heart,
And giving it
To One and Three,
When Two
Still has
A piece of me,
The scattered tones
I cannot keep.
I believe in
Love.

Empty Room

January 27, 2009

The walls don’t speak,
The windows sit still,
The floor doesn’t make music,
And the doors have little to do.

The room is empty.
The room is silent.
The room is waiting.

The sun shines in,
The clouds roll by,
The lock stays locked,
And the light stays off.

The room is empty.
The room is silent.
The room is waiting.

So unlock the lock,
And open the door,
Turn on the light,
And walk into the room,
While speaking your heart,
The song of sincerity,

The room is empty.
The room is silent.
The room is waiting

For you.

The Third

January 18, 2009

The third does so many things
It completes the chord,
It strengthens the rope,
It harmonizes with the fifth
And the first.

The third sounds sweet…
It has the form of completion,
It fills the gap when needed,
It quietly pleases the listener
From within its boundaries.

It is less than four and five
And is limited in what it leads
But the third still has a place
In support of the ongoing melody.

In spite of its benefits,
The third does have a dark side…
If not paired carefully with
Love and compassion,
The resolution may be lost.

Tell Me With A Memory

January 1, 2009

What can’t be said,
What has no words to describe,
What can only be understood in a lifetime…

Don’t tell me with a story,
Don’t tell me with a song,
Don’t tell me in a dream
That never really happens.

Give me what matters,
Let me into your heart,
With treasures fit for the soul,
And truth fit for eternity.

Tell me with the pillar of knowledge,
With quiet moments, and the wisdom of days,
Tell me with meaning beyond sincerity,

Tell me with a memory.

Harmonize Or Die

December 28, 2008

Once I met a melody
That was traveling on its way
I stopped and asked like I often do
“Hey, how are you today?”

The tune just turned and looked at me
And didn’t miss a beat,
When it said “You can’t just interrupt
Every Melody you meet.”

I said “my name is harmony
And I think you have good tone,”
Melody said “If you’re thinking duet,
Then I’d rather go it alone.”

So I sat back and listened to Melody’s song,
I’m not sure what it was about…
Then I stepped up my own little vocal offensive,
And snuffed the poor Melody out.
