Plastic Bottle With Lights

November 12, 2011

You said we’d talk
And still the lonely silence
Is the most I’ve heard
A silence I’m getting used to
Imposed by the guards of this prison
If it’s because I have leprosy
Or because they do
I don’t know

So another try
Putting this message
Into this bottle
Not a pretty romantic bottle
But an ugly one made of plastic
That has lights

Done so
In hopes that
I won’t lose another
In hopes that
Somehow there’s a reason
For your painfully obvious absence

And hanging on
To the little bit of hope
That maybe it’s not as bad as it feels
Because it feels like I’m losing you
At a time when I need you the most
Which you would know all about
If you would just
Fucking
Call.

Unknown Lover

October 13, 2011

Hold my hand and
Feel in that, everything
Touch my lips and
Hear me say quiet things
Sit with me in the darkness, alone
Let me tell you that
I think you have a beautiful soul

My hands are chained and
It keeps me from everything
The world that hates us
The madness of their rage
Hide with me in the darkness, alone
In every moment hidden
We only lived a moment ago

Displaced

October 7, 2011

Home is not home
Oh well of poison water
Left on a doorstep
Outcast, displaced

The outside is quiet
The inside is dark
Left to decay
Abandoned, Forgotten

Nobody knows it
Nobody cares
Selective  ignorance
Unknown, unimportant

Bright eyes shine
The quest to be known
Ends in disappointment
Unfulfilled, thirsty

I Believe In Love

September 28, 2011

I believe in
Love.
Do you
Believe
In harmony?
I’m giving you
My melody.
The quiet song
Inside of me
Is tearing
Out my
Heart,
And giving it
To One and Three,
When Two
Still has
A piece of me,
The scattered tones
I cannot keep.
I believe in
Love.

In This Breath

September 22, 2011

The pain of separation
The satisfaction of coming together
The emptiness
The fullness
In this breath

The frustration of having no options
The difficulty of choosing just one
The loneliness
Together
In this breath

The weight of the world
As light as a feather
The movement
The stillness
In this breath

I Am A Worm

September 2, 2011

I’m a worm, a snake,
Living under the ground.
I’m tolerated,
Because I don’t make a sound.

Surface dwellers bask,
In the freedom they give,
To the ones who aren’t shackled,
By the lies they must live.

The darkness they love,
Those dwellers of the night,
In the shadow of truth,
Created by light…

Their hearts, lined in hate,
Full of love for their own,
While the wounds that they cause,
Will never be shown.

Because worms and snakes
Live under the ground.
They are tolerated,
Because they don’t make a sound.

So the wounds grow deeper,
The coffee grows stronger,
The happy surface dwellers,
Will gloat a little longer,

Living out their lives,
Never hearing a sound,
From the worms and the snakes,
Living under the ground.

Under The Tree

August 18, 2011

In the shade of your branches
Oh the fruit you give
With your leaves softly singing
In harmony with the wind

In the strength of your foundation
The depth of your roots
Everything breathing
Should think to honor you

In the stillness of moments
The hot burning sun
With darkness around us
Still wrapped up in love

A touch of cool quiet
In a land of loud heat
Is the peace that is found
Sitting under the tree

The Rose Without Thorns

March 19, 2009

Behold the rose
The rose without thorns
Not because it started this way
And not because it will always be this way

But because the Keeper takes great care
In tending to every thorn as it is found
And the thorns that would hurt those
Who reach for this rose
Are slowly and steadily whittled down

See this thorn of fear
It can be removed by faith
By the trust of deeper meaning
And the comfort of knowing
That love remains

See this thorn of hurt
It can be removed by forgiveness
By the seed of tender mercy
And the sincerity that stems from
Having loved so deeply

See this thorn of anger
It can be removed by simple kindness
By the honest and open heart
Clinging to the knowledge that
Love can withstand conflict

See this thorn of entanglement
It can be removed by embracing freedom
By the soul determined to be free
And the realization that
Love can be as free as laughter

See this thorn of tension
It can be removed by peace
By the inner strength that comes from knowing
That the spirit can rest safely
In the crevice of faith and love

See this thorn of hampered expression
It can be removed by the quiet song of truth
By the gradual unfolding of what’s in the heart
And the slow and steady softening
Of the receiving vessel, through love

See this thorn of unmet needs
It can be removed by sharing those needs
With the right person, at the right time
And with the kind of humility that
Will allow others to truly love you

See this thorn of inner conflict
It can be removed by learning to love passionately
Those parts of you that seem to battle
By appreciating the depth and diversity
Of the love that you hold in your heart

See this thorn of wanting to hide
It can be removed by allowing yourself to be known
By understanding that you are a precious jewel
And that those who can’t see your implicit value
Don’t deserve to look upon your infinite beauty

See this thorn of unknown troubles
It can be removed by patience
By calm anticipation
And by allowing yourself to be immersed
In the love that endures all things

See this thorn of distance
It can be removed by coming close
By finding a deeper connection to
Those parts to which you wish to draw near
By love, by spirit, by the joining of souls

See this thorn of loneliness
It can be removed by enduring friendship
With the kind of friend who would die for you
Or live for you just as well
A friend who loves first

See this thorn of sadness
It can be removed by happiness
By the joy of knowing that
Where thorns have once grown
Loving kindness now prevails

Behold this rose without thorns
Where the layers of cover have been removed
Naked and pure, the rose sits waiting
Without thorns; full of love and beauty
Waiting to be seen
Waiting to be held

You are free, oh rose without thorns
To know, to love, to feel, to thrive, to see
You need not your thorns for protection
You need only to live, and to be

A Nice Place To Be

March 11, 2009

Don’t you see it?
Do you see where you are?
You are here with me
And it’s a wonderful place to be
Where we live and breathe and love
And freely think and feel
And talk and listen
And walk and stand
Together

In this place
We can rest until
Fate brings us to some other place
That may not be this nice

So let us enjoy
This place where we are
This nice place to be
Though it may not feel perfect
It is as close as we can get in this life
It’s the place where you are
This place with me
Right here, both close and distant
Where we can cling to our inner peace

And live today, this minute, this second
Waiting to meet with destiny
And longing to live as one
We can rest here
In this place
And just be

Faithful One

March 7, 2009

Faithful one, worthy of love
You have stolen my heart
From the clutches of others
You have captivated me by your spirit

In a world of pain
You have brought me comfort
In a world of hunger
You have satisfied me

When my heart was torn in two
You were there with your healing touch
And now, when I hurt with distance
You come close, and shower me with love

You understand my complexities
You see through my simplicity
You are patient with my wanderings
You multiply my happiness

You are excessively faithful
Committed and trustworthy
True to me, and true to who you are
Flexible while remaining steadfast

You have shown me more
Than I ever thought possible
And though my heart still yearns
You continue to meet my needs

It is you who I live for
It is you who I endeavor to keep
From the evil that man invented
Came the love that God refused to abandon

From the depths of my heart
I will cherish all that you are
I will cherish all that we have
And I will be yours until I die

I love you Amanda.
