A House Like Mine
February 10, 2009
I’m looking, searching,
For a house like mine,
For place to call home,
For a place where everything
Just feels right.
I’m wanting, longing,
For a house like mine,
For a place I can dwell,
For a place that brings
Security and peace.
I’m hoping, wishing,
For a house like mine,
For a door that will let me in,
For a place that is
A part of me.
I’m open and waiting
For a house like mine,
For a home I can accept,
For a room that
I can take in,
And feel the unity
Of home.

Wanted
February 8, 2009
I wanted to say but I couldn’t,
I wanted to go but was too late,
I wanted to stay but had to leave,
I wanted to see but I blinked.
You wanted to listen but didn’t,
You wanted to be found but you hid,
You wanted to be caught but you ran away,
You wanted to reach out but stopped short.
What we have wanted, and only wanted,
We seem to have missed.

Pain Beneath
December 13, 2008
Hurting deeply, aching of love
Folded hands of intense longing
Heartache holds on for dear life
And misery won’t let go
Nobody sees what’s underneath
Not the clothes but the soul
For whichever would bring fewer sobs
From a heart that knows the pain beneath
The shadows speak of not being heard.

Single Meaning
December 12, 2008
Nothing to hide
Nothing to fear
It’s what you read, see, hear
It’s the love I feel deeply
A love all your own
I can’t say it enough
“I love you”
Is it really that simple?
Should there be more?
It ought to be clear
Simple, straightforward
To the point
Without question
And of single meaning
And that meaning
Is simply love.

Fences
June 7, 2008
When we are carefree and happy, we build a white picket fence
When we have reason to worry, we build a privacy fence
When we are terrified, we build mighty walls
When we are at war, we post guards at the gate and call upon our allies
When we are ready to make peace, we open the gates to diplomats
When we have achieved peace, we take down the walls
When we are carefree and happy, we build a white picket fence
And lie in wait for a reason to worry
